Policy and regulatory interventions to address antibiotic shortages in low and middle-income countries

Quality-assured antibiotic shortages pose a significant threat to health systems and antimicrobial resistance. WHO and GARDP have reviewed regulatory and policy measures by national regulatory authorities and other stakeholders to address these shortages. A stepwise approach is proposed, based on country contexts, as part of SECURE, an initiative to increase sustainable, equitable access to quality-assured antibiotics.
